Her Purpose - Soulmates - Chapter 9

CHAPTER 9 - THE VISIT

Melinne Martin

She dressed for her visit with Professor Regina Morris in dark blue pants, a fitted white shirt with blue accents, and a blue sweater. She had to be at the flower shop at 11:00 to pick up the dark pink roses for Mrs. Morris, her favorites, and she had to be at Mrs. Morris' house by 11:30 a.m. The trip to Mrs. Morris' house was fifteen minutes, so she was going to be on time.

She stopped at the gate and pressed the intercom button. She heard a cheerful voice saying, "Hi, Melinne, please come on in." The house was a mansion that was located on the top of a hill overlooking the ocean. It was breathtaking. There were palm trees on the two sides of the entrance. It has luxurious outdoor spaces; the landscaped gardens were more than perfect, with flowers of every color. She was in awe of what she was seeing. Just beautiful.

As she was getting close to the house, Mrs. Morris' daughter Liz opened the door. "How are you doing, Melinne? I haven't seen you in a long time. I'm glad you are here visiting mom. We were surprised when Michael told us you were coming to see mom. Mom is more than happy that her favorite student cares about her and her health. Thank you so much."

"I'm glad to see you too, Liz." She gave Liz a hug. Liz is a beautiful woman with an enchanted smile. Thin with gorgeous long blonde hair. She was wearing white shorts with a beautiful flowery orange blouse.

Liz is two years younger than Melinne. When she was in high school, she was very nice to her, and she never joined those who mocked her. Her brother Jonah dated her for a few months, but they ended their relationship when a girl named Sylvia moved to Sunset Beach and started pursuing her brother. She was a very persuasive girl, and whatever she wanted, she decided that she had to have it. At that time, Sylvia set her eyes on her brother Jonah. She got in the way and broke off their relationship. After graduation Jonah joined the armed forces and moved away from Sunset Beach, but Melinne thinks he is still in love with Liz.

They went through the living room straight to the back of the house through an open glass door. The back porch was beautiful and enormous. There were multiple gardens and an exceptionally large pool. On the right side of the porch there was a beautiful fiberglass, thirty two feet by fifty two feet swimming pool. On the left side there was a seven-seater wicker sofa dining table set with wonderfully comfortable cushions ideal for outdoor dining. It was constructed with high quality materials.

Liz took her to the elegant sofa where her professor Regina Morris was waiting for her, relaxing in the sun. Melinne gave Mrs. Morris a hug and a beautiful bouquet of flowers. "How are you doing, Mrs. Morris?" Melinne said.

"I'm doing better, darling. Thank you so much for coming to visit me, and thank you for my favorite flowers; they are splendid. Sit here with me, Melinne. We will be eating a succulent lasagna for lunch. My son is spoiling me with delicious food. He cooks amazing food. He didn't let Mery cook today. Mery is the lady that cooks for us. You will see how tasty it is."

Michael appeared and kissed Regina, Liz, and her on their cheeks. Her eyes widened, and her face felt as if it was burning and her face turned red. His mom looked at her with bemusement. What was going on with her? "Glad to see you again, Melinne. Sorry, I have to interrupt your conversation with mom and my goofy sister, but I don't want to let the food get cold." Liz threw one of the pillows at him, and he started to laugh. She stuck her tongue out playing with her brother. Melinne felt embarrassed. She was stunned because she did not know Regina was Michael's mom. Why didn't he tell her?

She looked at his hands, and the ring wasn't there anymore. Why did he take the ring off? Liz mentioned Lana, but in the past tense. Melinne looked into his eyes, and there was sorrow at the mention of Lana's name. Liz said, "Sorry bro." Was he divorced? Maybe he wasn't married anymore. She was going to ask him later to be sure. She was going to do things according to God's principles, and there was no way she was going to date a married man. That was for sure.

"Are you all ready to eat?" Everybody nodded. He went to the kitchen and brought the food to them. Lasagna, white rice, salad, bread rolls, fruit, sweet tea, orange juice, and water. The food was mouthwatering. The best lasagna she had ever tasted in her life.

"This is so good, Michael; you are an awesome cook. From now on, I will call you Chef Michael." She said teasing.

They looked at each other, and their gazes locked. She couldn't look anywhere else. It felt like they were the only two people in the world. His mom cleared her throat, and she felt awkward. She looked to the beach to distract herself. She imagined her face was crimson red.
