Her Purpose - Soulmates - Chapter 10

CHAPTER 10 - WALKING AROUND THE BEACH

Michael Redson and Melinne Martin

They were having a wonderful time eating lunch, talking, and laughing on the back porch of the house. After eating, Mrs. Morris was feeling tired, and she said. "Melinne, I am so happy you came to visit me. Thank you again so much for my beautiful flowers. I need to have some rest now because my body is asking for it, but please stay for a while and keep my children company. Son, you should take Melinne for a walk to our beautiful secluded beach. She is going to love it." Liz took her mom's hand and took her to her bedroom. There was silence for a few seconds.

"Professor Redson, why didn't you tell me Mrs. Morris was your mom?"

"Are we back to professor?" he laughed. "Sorry, Melinne, I wanted to give you a surprise." He shrugged his shoulders. "Melinne, would you like to go for a walk at the beach with me?" Michael asked,

"Yes Professor."

"Please, call me Michael." He took her hand and guided her through a set of steps that took them to a pathway to the beach. She let me hold her hand, yes!

As they walked, he was lost in his thoughts. Her hands are so soft, and she smells so good. She smells like vanilla and cinnamon and has a fruity scent I don't recognize. I feel so attracted to her. He was feeling confused. Being close to her was creating havoc with his senses. He needed clarity in his mind. At that moment, he prayed silently. God, if you want this woman to be with me, please guide us. I don't want to get involved with anybody again, but at the same time, I want to do your will. You know my future, and I don't. I really trust You, my Lord.

"This is so beautiful," Melinne said.

There were trees on both sides of the white sandy path to the beach. There was so much peace. A peace that he was longing for. They walk quietly, absorbing everything they were seeing. Everything that God created for them. Fascinated, he forgot everything else, and he relaxed. At that moment it was God, the majesty of the view, Melinne, and him.

They were looking at the beautiful ocean, and it started to rain and thunder very hard. They started to run back, but it was really pouring. On their way back, they stopped at the lifeguard cabin. They went inside the small building to take shelter from the rain. Michael and Melinne were soaked from head to toe. There were drops of rain dripping on the floor. "I got some towels." He opened a drawer and grabbed some towels for Melinne. He put one towel around her shoulders. He got a small towel and started drying her face softly and with such tenderness.

Shivering and cold, she started to dry herself off in an attempt to warm up. However, she couldn't tell if her trembling was caused by the cold, chilly rain or the lingering effects of his touch. He got closer to her and asked her. "Melinne, are you alright?" We were so close, inches from each other. She felt like she couldn't breath; her heart was palpitating wildly. She was only able to whisper.

"I think I am just cold." Without thinking, he embraced her; she didn't move, and then she snuggled her head into his shoulder. It felt so right to have her in his arms, Michael thought.

She looked at him with wide eyes. His eyes fell on her irresistible lips. Without reasoning, he leaned his head toward hers and kissed her. He felt the warmth on her lips as she kissed him back. When they stopped kissing to get some air, she looked at him and realized what had happened. Her body tensed, and she moved away from him. "I am so sorry; I shouldn't have let this happen. I don't really know you. Are you married?"

She didn't wait for his answer. She opened the lifeguard tower door and started running to the house. The rain was still pouring, and the thunder was deafening. He caught up with her at the fence gate, and they walked to the house.

"I'm so sorry for my actions. No, I am not married. I feel so attracted to you, and I couldn't contain myself." Michael opened the door and let her in.

His mother and sister were sitting down in the living room. "I'm glad you are back. It's getting really ugly out there." Mrs. Morris said to her.

"I'd better go before it gets worse," Melinne said.

"Darling You won't be able to leave today. I heard on the news that some of the streets to get out of our neighborhood are already flooded and the authorities don't want anybody on the streets. David got back about twenty-five minutes ago and said that the authorities were closing the bridge to get to the island exactly right when he was crossing. The storm is getting worse, and they are expecting more flooding and possibly some tornadoes."

"We have a few guest rooms upstairs on the second floor, and my daughter has new clothes she has not used. You look like you are the same size as her. The house is pretty sturdy, but my husband is preparing the basement just in case the weather gets worse. Liz, can you take Melinne to the guest room and settle her in? She needs to change her wet clothes and get comfortable. Michael, can you go and help your dad prepare the basement, gather the outdoor furniture, and secure everything?"

"Of course, mom." Michael looked at Melinne and went to help his stepfather.

"Can you come with me, Melinne?"

Liz took Melinne to a majestic guest room. The room was spacious, with a large cozy bed. It had a table with two lush chairs. The chandeliers were luxurious. The room was painted all white with gold trims. Two glass floors to ceiling windows adorned the beautiful, exquisite room, looking at the ocean. "The clothes in the closet and in the drawers are untouched; they are new. Help yourself and use whatever you like. It looks like you are going to be here for a few days."

She started getting nervous. It was hard for her to relax knowing she had so many things to do. "I can't stay here. I must go back today. I have to study for my tests, have to work, and have to go to college on Monday.

"Honey, the town is closed. I saw the news, and the town is flooded. They are shutting down everything until the storm passes and the streets are clean. You won't be able to go anywhere. You should call your family and friends and let them know that you are safe before we lose electricity." Upon hearing this, Melinne nodded with resignation, accepting that she couldn't do anything.

She was anxious about getting behind on her assignments. What was she going to do? It was out of her hands. Please pray with me Liz. "Father, give me your peace. I know I cannot do anything right now. I trust you, and I am going to rest in your precious hands." Liz left the room.

Melinne got some clothes and went to shower. After showering, she called her dad and siblings, explained what happened, and told them she was safe. She also called her friend Maggie, her neighbor Sarah, and her boss and explained to them about the situation. She didn't feel good about being so close to Michael for a few days. She couldn't get him out of her mind. Was she falling for him? No!!! Who was she kidding? She already has fallen in love with him.
